NC to drop 4 standardized tests


In the interest of saving money,  high schools would no longer give end-of-course tests in U.S. history, civics and economics, Algebra II,  and physical science.  Read more at NewsObserver.com

I suppose the tests can be, and probably are, manipulated to show excellent education results, whatever educators want us to believe about the education our children are getting; but eliminating the tests altogether gives the BOC the cover they need to teach whatever they want without any standards inviting scrutiny from parents. Now they don’t even have to exercise the pretense of educating, as opposed to indoctrinating, our future citizens. They can cut out teaching history and teach all the socialist PC they want without worry of repercussions from those pesky Tea Party people.

    • I just don’t see this move as a big-time money saver. It’s an excuse to get rid of the testing. Testing interferes with their agenda. They fought against instituting the testing in the first place, but lost out. Now they have taken another tack at getting rid of them.

  4. No logic, just saving $$. Teachers associations are against standardized testing for the above reason.
