Dare Unemployment Rates Jumps 25% in January

Dare County’s unemployment rate increased to 17.8% in January 2011, up 25% from December’s rate of 14.2%.  This is the highest rate in Dare County since 1998. The unemployment state-wide increased by 8.2% to 10.5%.

The Governor tried her best to spin this by issuing a press release with the headline,

“Over-The-Year Rates Down In 86 Counties”

Yet the first sentence of the release says,

“Unemployment rates increased in 99 of North Carolina’s 100 counties in January”

There’s no spinning the numbers, Bev. You are the Job-Loss-Governor, not the Jobs-Governor!
