Ask voters before funding jetties, two groups say


Two unlikely partners are calling for referendums before towns or counties can pay for terminal groins, or jetties, at coastal inlets — if the General Assembly decides to legalize them.

The N.C. Coastal Federation, an environmental group, and the John Locke Foundation, a conservative think tank, say the state House of Representatives should add the requirement for a local referendum to a bill that would allow terminal groins.  Read the full story at OuterBanksVoice.com
