NC Republicans cave on voter ID bill

Lawmakers have reached the outlines of a compromise on a proposed voter identification bill that would no longer require voters to show a photo ID, reports Jim Morrill, Dome’s Charlotte Observer correspondent.

But it still may not placate opponents.

Stop trying to placate them.  Grow a spine.  Pass the law.

  1. Democrats may be wrong, thoughtless, emotionally driven, some may say evil. Their policies may be ill conceived and often destructive, but at least they have fortitude, they’ll fight to the bitter end for what they want. So even if Republicans were right 100% of the time, if they are too lily-livered to stand up and see things through, with a majority no less, what good are they. We’ll get some new ones in there next time.

  2. Now why would any legislator wish to allow any weakness for a system to verify the identity of a voter? hmmmm.
