GOP Budget Proposals Would Close Teacher Paradise


A teacher training center criticized as a boondoggle would have to close its doors under spending cuts proposed by a Republican-led House subcommittee Tuesday.  One is in Cullowhee, the other in Ocracoke.  Read the details at CarolinaJournal.com

  1. “Boondoggle” is putting it mildly. Going to the beach or to a mountain resort, throwing a few pots and talking about global warming or holistic health sounds like a vacation to me, rather than an intensive workshop on important issues facing teachers in today’s classrooms. I wonder how much the “tuition” is. What does a tourist pay for a week’s vacation at these destinations?

    • Beach and mountains are included. No pot throwing, etc. It is workshops on improving classroom performance, both teachers and students. Teachers attend by application selection. Don’t know about the cost to the taxpayer.
