Tax me more fund passes NC House committee

Members of a House committee passed a bill Thursday morning that would allow taxpayers to make donations to state government and offset budget cuts.
House Bill 877, Check Off Donation: Government Funding, would allow filers to donate all or a portion of their state income tax refunds to six accounts, including the Department of Public Instruction, the state university system, and the general fund.  “On the merits of it, I think there is absolutely nothing wrong with asking people to give a dollar or two to help out the state,” said Rep. Marcus Brandon, D-Guilford.    (Liv: Ummm, I believe I already give quite a few dollars)

  1. Let’s make it comprehensive, and make ALL my taxes optional.

The only ones I see exercising that option to pay more taxes would be wealthy liberals who would be donating to liberal charities anyway. They’ll just switch to donating to the government instead, which means those liberal charities will suffer. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Bad if they cry for a government bailout, or if the libs just provide another government teat for them.
