Perhaps the greatest single piece of sociological, cultural and political legerdemain in the last 40 years has been liberals convincing the country that they have not moved left since John Kennedy’s death. Despite George McGovern, Roe v. Wade, the welfare state, gay marriage and now the Obama attack on religion, liberals have managed to present themselves as the voices of reason in a country gone crazily right wing. And the more liberals move left, the more hysterical their rhetoric about the right grows. OBX Tea Party News 
Republicans really do have the upper hand in the ideological battle, but we lose the marketing battle because we allow authoritarians to rule the party who just mouth the words “individual and economic liberty” instead of actually live it.
We need to move this party back to the party of Frederick Douglass and Robert Taft. The Republican form of government really is the best that has ever existed and we must defeat Democracy, the tyranny of the mob. But it will require that Republicans take a deep hard self look and make sure that they do not trample any rights, individual or economic themselves. Then we can market ourselves and make the Democratic party disappear like it almost did before Richard Nixon and the “Southern Solution” saved the Democratic party.
